Swinburne University Industry Event | Melbourne Photography

Swinburne University’s Designing with BIM event connected interior design, architecture, and construction students with industry leaders at Melbourne’s The Commons. I documented the presentations, networking moments, and collaborative atmosphere while showcasing event partner Luca’s contribution to this future-focused educational experience.

About the event

Swinburne University’s “Designing with BIM: Voices from the Industry” brought students and Building Information Modelling leaders together for an evening that bridged education and professional practice. Held at The Commons in Melbourne, the event featured presentations and Q&A sessions where industry pioneers shared real-world workflows, creative problem-solving approaches, and insights into how digital modelling shapes the built environment.

For interior design, architecture, and construction students, it was an opportunity to connect directly with the people defining their future industry, ask genuine questions, and network in a setting that mirrors the collaborative workspaces they’ll enter after graduation.

As the event photographer, my role was multifaceted: capturing the knowledge exchange during presentations, documenting students actively engaging with speakers during Q&A, photographing the networking moments where connections formed, and showcasing event partner Luca’s catering contribution. The Commons provided a vibrant, backdrop that perfectly reflected the event’s forward-thinking ethos.

The gallery delivers imagery Swinburne can use to promote future industry events, demonstrate their commitment to connecting students with professionals, and show prospective students the caliber of opportunities available – while also providing documentation for internal records and partner recognition.
